According to BBC-News, a strong cup of coffee has different effects on men and women, research shows.
The scientists of The University of Barcelona have performed a research with 668 healthy volunteers. At first they were asked to drink coffee with caffeine and then without it. A cup of espresso, which was taken at the beginning, had a restorative effect already in 10 minutes.
By that, in order to reach maximum caffeine concentration in the blood, human’s body needs 45 minutes, but half of participants got concentration after just a few minutes.
The decaf coffee had a similar effect (exactly which contains 5mg of this substance). In both cases, researches have marked the most rapid effect achievement by men than by the weaker sex.
“The stimulant effect of caffeine has been proved by a numerous studies, but none of these have looked at their effects in terms of the consumer’s gender”, – said lead researcher Ana Adan.
“This study provides an interesting insight into how the effects of specific foods and nutrients may differ between men and women. Research into ‘gene-nutrient’ interactions gives more and more results. We can see how our genetic data affects our requirements for certain foods and nutrients, and how our bodies react to these. In the future this could allow scientists to formulate dietary recommendations based on our genetic data, as well as our age and body size”, – added Anna Denny from the British Nutrition Foundation.
In order to reach maximum caffeine concentration in the blood, human’s body needs 45 minutes, but for somebody just a few minutes will be enough.
